Forgiveness Runs In The Family

For the longest time, TaylorMade has been one of the pinnacle brands of golf and they do not show any signs of slowing down soon. Keying the phrase “Forgiveness Runs In The Family” does not tread lightly in the ears of tour players and weekend warriors and that is exactly what TaylorMade has brought to the table in 2024.

From driver, to woods, to irons, there is no doubt that the Qi 10 line of clubs is appealing to the eye. But how do the clubs stand up to the expectations of being the most forgiving equipment in the golf space? In this blog, we will take a look at each category of golf club and explain why TaylorMade has hit yet another home run.

Starting with the driver, the Qi 10 is offered in four different models including the regular Qi 10, the Qi 10 Max, Qi 10 LS, and Qi 10 Max HL. But what is the difference? The Qi 10 is centered around complete performance from distance to performance. With the new infinity carbon crown, includes improved energy transfer for increased ball speeds and more center-faced strikes. The Qi10 Max highlights the 10K MOI (moment of inertia) and works to provide players with more forgiveness and stability by showcasing a shallower head shape from front to back. The Qi 10 LS is specifically designed for tour performance and has the addition of adjustable weights to adhere to each player’s swing, while also providing the same forgiveness levels. Lastly, the Qi 10 Max HL is all about feel and distance. With the same shallower face design as the Qi 10 Max, the Max HL is all about maximizing club head speed and carrying further distances, while again providing incredible forgiveness.

Moving into woods and hybrids, TaylorMade has launched three models for each category centering around the regular Qi 10 wood/hybrid, Qi 10 Max wood/hybrid, and Qi 10 Tour wood/hybrid. Offered in varieties of different lofts to accommodate to different player’s bags, the recipe is pretty simple. The regular Qi 10 is designed for every player with, you guessed it, maximum forgiveness through 10 MIO configuration. The Qi 10 Max is going to help assist players with higher ball flight and more distance, while providing the maximum forgiveness in the club head. Lastly, the Qi 10 Tour is specifically designed for experienced players, a.k.a. tour players, who are still looking for the aspect of adjustability through their woods and rescues (hybrids).

Last, but certainly not least, let’s take a look at the Qi 10 iron line that is fresh on the scene. But before doing so, let be completely clear that these irons are not TaylorMade’s premier clubs, but still are providing value to players everywhere. Offered in both a regular Qi 10 and Qi 10 HL, the irons are designed to do one thing in specific, hit the golf ball straighter. With an integrated design and “cap back” system, the irons are working for the golfer, not against them. Highlighted by premiere gapping, the Qi 10 iron lines are designed to produce more consistent strikes and forgiveness, even with inconsistent striking on the club face. Similar to the drivers, woods, and rescues, the main difference between the Qi 10 irons and Qi 10 HL irons is increased height and distance in the Qi 10 HL.

Our Opinion?

Obviously, we will see tour players using the drivers, woods, and rescues all over the place this year depending on their age, game, and course conditions. That speaks for itself, but where do the irons sit? Like we previously mentioned, the Qi 10 irons are not TaylorMade’s premier iron line. However, these clubs are terrific for mid to high handicappers and with the new technology introduced, it will be interesting to see just how many players sport them in 2024.
